Early Bird or Night Owl?

Or more specifically – do you work better in the morning or later in the day, or later on, into the evening? It appears I’m definitely the former. I’ve left it until the evening to write this blog post and it’s proving a lot harder to form some sort of coherent structure!

Now, don’t get me wrong. I love a lie-in. If I had the choice I’d sleep late every day. But in attempting to get up consistently early the last few weeks, it’s patently obvious to me now that my mind is clearer and I work faster and more efficiently in the morning. I’m making the comparison with today: I woke up an hour later than usual. That may not sound like much but it feels like I’ve been playing catch up all day (despite leaving this post until the evening to make up a bit of time).

The only get-out clause I’ll give myself: I’m rather pleased with the tunes I wrote today, so all is not lost 🙂

So, which are you, early bird or night owl?

  1. I am definitely a nightowl, I cannot seem to change that, there is always so much I have thought about during the day and finally gotten up to momentum, that when the quiet of the night sets in, and I love the night, it seems the perfect time to just focus on communication and getting things done.

Of course in a house with people sleeping, I have to be somewhat quiet, but I manage. I reckon I’ll fix it sometime, but for now I seem to be able to stay up late and still get up fairly well with the rest of the family.

    Thanks for sharing.

  2. Definitely an early bird here… just getting back into the swing of rolling out before the sun comes up – after a sporadically productive few weeks with the alarm clock turned off.
