TOCANLive: The Hunt Goes Live Online!

Slung Low, the fantabulous theatrical collective, is launching TOCANLive this Monday, 10th August.

TOCANLive is an Alternative Reality Game (ARG) that will expand the world of ‘They Only Come At Night’, Slung Low’s series of vampire shows, to a worldwide audience, and promote the next show, They Only Come At Night: Resurrection, which is on at The Lowry, Salford, in September.

I’m currently in the middle of scoring and sound designing all of the video and other cues for ‘Resurrection’. In fact, today we’re prepping the final cue plot for sound and video for the show. I love these meetings. It’s when it finally starts to feel real and concrete that we’re actually making the show.

Updated daily from August 10th-14th, join an anxious scientist’s online journal from the comfort of your own computer as she stumbles into the world of the undead and needs your help to find answers.

Follow a series of cryptic puzzles and interact with the characters to help the scientist find three answers that make up a hidden email address. When emailed, the hidden email offers the chance to win tickets for the live Salford show at The Lowry (Sept 2nd-12th) or copies of the graphic novel that may have incurred the vampires’ wrath to begin with (which can be sent by post to wherever you are).

TOCANLive is written by John Hunter, and you can follow his behind-the-scenes blog here. He’ll be blogging as TOCANLive progresses and escalates!

TOCANLive was also a great deal of fun for me as I designed the site! It’s built on Wordpress, (just like this blog), a wonderfully versatile and easy-to-tweak open-source platform. I highly recommend it if you’re thinking of going into blogging (or building an ARG on a smaller budget…)
